I am in the market looking for a 65mm straight body spotting scope
I am want the ability to see bullet holes at 200 yards, plus some bird watching, and spotting prairie dogs next summer. on the side. I looked at the Vortex line up while at the NRA show in St. Louis, an liked the Vortex Viper series. Mt question is what is the difference between the Viper HD, vs XD models. I'm looking for more than what's in the 2012 brochure. I picked one up at the show. Is either version corrected for chromatic aberration? Difference in glass between the two? Lenses coating? I want real, detailed, in depth answers. Thanks to those who reply. |

I agree with you and your initial choices. When you compare the Viper and Viper HD, the only difference is that the Viper HD uses and extra low dispersion lens element in the objective to reduce chromatic aberation to a higher degree than the standard Viper. Apart from that, they use the same coatings and are the same body, etc. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thank you for your interest in Vortex Optics. |
