Don't loctite it. Get a decent staking auto-punch, and torque the castle nut down, stake...and enjoy.

How do I unstake a castle nut/ plate?  I'm trying to get one off without destroying it, to put my ASAP plate on.

These work just fine.  It's a lot easier to use than a prick punch and a hammer.

You'll want to buy another castle nut if possible, they're cheap and it's worth doing it right.

A dull chisel or blunt old screwdriver works well. One solid hit and a dimple is created and your done. A slight dimple is good all you wont to do is stop the castle nut from moving. The problem with Loctite is it could be difficult to remove and this is the weak spot on the lower and could snap off and requiring you to bye a new one. Torque the casle nut to about 35 ft/lb should be good.

Follow link to see what happens when over tighten stuck tube. Not good.

To each his own. I used it on mine and it's very solid. I've taken it apart twice now and it hasn't given me any grief with removal. I only put a dab on the cuts of the castle nut on the last torque and it's all good.
