The extra battery storage compartment has an o-ring inside. I'm guessing its there to protect the NEG side of the battery? Also there is some blue colored grease that I'm guessing is for anti-corrosion? Can any of my fellow LT brethren confirm this.

I dont think that the mount will carry a current because the battery is not touching bare metal.

Keeping water out...the one inside keeps the battery from rattling around, and serves as a spare

There are 2 o rings...one where the cap seals and a smaller one inside.

Even though it's smaller, I was able to use it years ago when I tore the primary...I used the battery, so I didn't need it in there afterwards.
