I notice the eyepiece and objective rings turn, is there any purpose for this?

Yes, it allows the user to position where the flip caps open up. Some like them to flip down, others to one side or the other, and some people like them to flip up top.

Thanks Sam

That's what I needed to know.

I just mounted my new Strikefire and fired a few quick rounds to zero, when focusing on the target the dot on it's lowest power setting turned into "cluster of grapes". I do have astigmatism, but this wasn't an issue with a PA Micro Dot that I just sent back to Marsh for an exchange for the Strikefire, so I was wondering. I haven't tried the 2x magnifier yet.

Today I was at an indoor range whereas with the PA I was at an outdoor range with different lighting. After arriving home I tried to get the Strikefire Dot to turn into the "cluster of grapes" again while looking at outdoor targets and the dot was just fine, I couldn't get it to turn into grapes again. So, I'm assuming it was the lighting on the indoor range, contrasted on the black bull and/or my aging, astigmatic eyes.

I was hoping that maybe those adjustable rings were for focusing.

I read a previous post you had made regarding testing the sight for the "cluster of grapes" and I'll try that in some different lighting conditions and next week I'll go back to the outdoor range and see how it goes there, it might just be something I need to learn to live with if I want to shoot a Red Dot, which seems to be more about speed rather then precision, my 50 yard group was a bit larger then I get with a scope. I guess I'm just not going to get 1MOA groups with a Red Dot.

The Strikefire seems to be a quality sight, it mounted easily and appears sturdy, I have the latest Red Dot and mine is very bright and I don't have an issue with the on/off switch, for the savings over an Aimpoint or Eotech I can afford a few batteries.

I'm really looking forward to the 1-4x Viper coming out and will be ordering one when they become available. I think the 1-4x scope is going to best fit my shooting style, but the Red Dot will have it's place as well and it's easy enough to swap them back and forth.

with the 4moa dot you should group 2" at 50yds.

I'm a firm believer in vortex after owning the strikefire for a year now.  I'm also saving up for the 1-4PST and the 4-16 FFP PST for my .308 bolt action.
