In January of 2008 I ordered a RRA ppc 9. When I ordered it I did so through a local dealer that I buy most of my guns from. I placed my order and RRA told them it would be about a 6 month turn around. In July I had still not received my pistol. I inquired at the national matches at camp perry about my pistol. They told me it shouldn't be too much longer. At the end of July I called the factory but was unable to get any kind of a timeline. My reason for asking was that I purchased the gun to shoot in the National Police Shooting Championships which was held in September. No solid answer and after getting off the phone I felt as if I had bothered them for asking. In august I received my pistol. It looked great and was fit very well. Unfortunately, there was only one mag in the box. I checked the catalog and the website and both places said that my pistol would be sent with 2 magazines. I contacted my dealer and asked if he would correct the problem. My dealer contacted RR and after being put on hold for quite some time he was told several times that it was a typo and they were not going to honor his request that they send me a second magazine. The magazines cost about $40.00 if I wanted another one. So I just spent over $2500.00 (I added the Tkote) and they were going to deny the magazine that they advertised came with the gun. After some major griping by my dealer and a reminder that they order well over 300 AR's a year from them, RR said they would ship out another magazine. This was in the end of August. I still do not have my mag.
Now the mechanical diffaculties. While at the NPSC, I was shooting my new pistol in the match and went to turn the safety off as I was drawing. When I did so the safety seperated and it backed out the left side of the pistol. This happened several times during the 150 round course of fire. It destroyed the score I posted. On two occasions I had a couple DNF's due to running out of time while trying to push the safety back together. The sales rep from Springfield Armory had heard about this happening and offered to have thier on site pistol smith try to fix it for me. She stated she felt bad and they would fix it free of charge unless I needed parts. Since I was done shooting all the matches I had with that gun I thanked her immensely but did not know if I would violate any warranty by having them fix it. Now, on to the finish. I paid extra money for the Tkote finish. Roughly a 200.00 upgrade. The finish has actually chipped in a couple places. Some of you are probably wondering why I have not sent the pistol back for repair. To be honest I was waiting to see if I would ever get the magazine I ordered. If I can't get the magazine, I sure have a hard time sending a gun back and worrying that I may not get that back in next to forever. With these problems I am wondering what I should do about the warranty problems. I am thinking of calling Springfield and explaining my problems and seeing how much it would cost to just have the problems fixed. I am also curious if anyone knows the company that was putting the T finish on RR's so that I may contact them directly and deal directly. Either way buyer beware. I own 3 RR rifles and 2 pistols. But I can say I will probably steer clear in the future. I will update as to future resolutions but do not see this one ending well. |

I still have yet to receive a magazine from last year. I am having a hard time sending them my gun when I cannot get a 40.00 mag sent to me. They said they would send the mag. No offense man, but they are so over booked on their orders because of obama, a mag is not on the top of their list. I called them last week for a replacement part i needed and it was shipped out the same day. Give them a call and they will do their best. You need to cut them some slack, they are so over whelmed with orders that any company to include the "almighty" colt are having a very hard time keeping up with all the parts that are ordered. For every 10 parts in stock there is at lest 300 people trying to get that same part, its not much they can do until l more comes in. |

Springfield is a class act What is that comment supposed to mean? At face value it is meaningless. I also like Springfield. The point is...? I love RRA, including my Tactical 1911, several AR-15's, and looking forward to my LAR 8. I also have a couple of XD's and like them alot. Why post here about that, though? I'll put those in the Springfield forum if I feel compelled to do so. Suggest you do the same.
