So I work with a guy who just got into shooting within the last 12mos or so. Already has a few nice pieces in his firearm collection. I brought up to him whether or not he might be interested in my AR sometime as I'm thinking of putting together the funds to buy a different one (buying a LaRue rifle is always somewhere on my 'to do' list  ). He asked me a couple questions what I had and about what I was planning on replacing it with and I said "one of LaRue Tactical's rifles" and he goes "oh, like the one on TOP SHOT?"
At first I wanted to say something one-upper-ish about how I've known that company a lot longer than the show or something but then I thought about it for a moment and - light bulb! - the exposure on that show did exactly what it was supposed to do. This is a kid who, for 23 years of his life, was not exposed to shooting, firearms, or anything of the sort. And we talk about AR-15s for maybe 5 minutes (and I guarantee I'm the only one he talks guns with at work or in his circle of family/friends for the most part) and he already knew about LaRue's OBR and that it was a top-notch weapon. I just said "yeah, similar to that one" and we the discussion continued. But, yeah, just thought I'd share. Thought it was interesting. I keep trying to drag him to the dark side and join arfcom. But he resists. Happy Thursday. |
