TRX Extreme 7.6 i bought the other day:

Here it is mounted and aligned on an upper:

Picture from Troy's website shows the same thing:

How am i supposed to get a gas tube in there?

ETA: i emailed Troy, we'll see what they say...

ETAA: hold on, i may be an idiot...  But the anti-rotation tab is still not quite lining up...

Is the tab low enough for the tube to clear even in that pos.?  Or, in other words, have you tried it with a gas tube?

Yep, i'm an idiot...

But there WAS a small machining burr that prevented the handguard from rotating on the barrel nut.  Now that i found it and flicked it off, it works fine.  I'll still need to build up some epoxy or something to make the handguard rail align perfectly with the upper rail.  Right now the anti-rotation tab is about 0.040" off of the upper with the rails aligned...

The handguard is supposed to rotate freely once you slide it all the way on, before you tighten the two screws.

No a gas tube would not clear a tooth.

So i just need to install the barrel nut and torque it to line up properly, slide the handguard on then rotate it into position with the tab against the upper..

This one gets a lot of people.  Glad you got it figured out.

The rotation tab is a bit on the larger side of the measurement.  you would be surprised  how many upper receiver M1913  rails are out of spec, mostly being over sized.

Thanks for the response.

I've seen people have issue with the tab before, mostly on billet uppers that are way oversized or have added stock to the body of the receiver.

I knew how it was SUPPOSED to work but it didn't rotate freely once installed. I didn't catch the little machining burr that was rolled up until later and I flicked it off with a fine file and it then worked just fine

Thanks again.

On mine, the tab is a bit too small letting the rail "over time" a bit.  In order to have the top of the rail and my upper line up properly I have a small gap between the tab and the upper.  Is this anything to worry about? Do I need to do anything fill in that gap or will the rail be secure enough to not rotate anyway?

It's probably plenty secure, but being a bit OCD about some things, I'm going to put a dab of liquid steel or something similar on the inside of the tab and file it down til it lines up perfectly...
