Kspeer where in NM are you? I'm moving to Las Cruces this summer from ABQ and would like to learn a bit about places to hunt/shoot. You mentioned Deming and I figured you're down south.
|
|
|
Just let me know when you get here. I live in Deming, but hunt and shoot all around the Southern part of the state.

When this small 8-point came out early in the hunt I decided I should show her how it's done first. One shot to the neck dropped him in his tracks. 30 minutes later another deer stopped right over this one and it was her turn. She cracked under the pressure and cleanly missed him. That is too fucking cool. Another takeaway: my carry pistol is Texas Governor approved |

Multiple shots, but yes the hog was running down a creek bed, and i unloaded as it ran by! Those hits in the legs are actually entry wounds.

I was blasting some the other day with plain old M855, but it didn't look like there was enough meat to destabilize the bullet so it was just punching "clean" holes. I got one with a chest shot, but it was a tad bit off to the side, so I guess it missed his spine or something. He dropped immediately but after about a half of a second he got up and ran about a foot before dieing again. I was worried I had just wounded him until I got up to where I shot him and saw him dead. I don't think I'll have that problem with what you're using... Normally I don't hunt things like this, so I don't know what to use but these little bastards are threatening to chew up our phone lines AGAIN! Might as well be humane while I'm at it. |

Low grainage + high velocity = fragged critters. Lots of energy dump in a small target - 40 and 45 grain rounds are always fun |

I was blasting some of those little furry bastards the other day with an old ACOG RCO mounted in a LT RCO mount. I had zeroed it to 100 at 25 yds... 0.7" low from the POA with M855 in a 14.5" barrel/HALO. I took the RCO off to show off my fancy mount without even thinking. I put it back on and went off to defined the innocent underground cables without checking zero. Guess what? It was spot on! Two shots, two kills. LT puts a grin on my face I'd post pics, but with FMJ, it isn't too exciting...
Now I just need to find a place around here in North ID where I can stretch the SPR's legs! Anyone know where I could find such a place out? |
