I was wondering if you were aware of any problems with your followers being too tight in magazines.

A firend with another department recently purchased a new Sabre Defense rifle which came with 4 DSG marked 30 round black Teflon magazines with your followers installed.  When I looked at them, I noticed that the followers seemed a little tight, especially the last 1/4" or so of travel.  When we were sighting the rifle in, the bolt was not locking back on the last round with 2 or 3 of the magazines.  I then threw the magazines in my RRA, and got a bolt lock.  Upon further examination with his rifle, we saw that the follower was contacting the bolt catch, but it could not push it up far enough to catch the bolt.

About a week later, I purchased a couple of new NHMTG 30 rounders with the dry teflon finish.  I then installed some followers that I ordered through Brownell's.  After installing them, I also noticed that the follower was a little tight in one of the magazines.  Although, it does have enough force to lock the bolt on my rifle.

I have a follower that I received from 7KOPPER a while ago that I installed in a Colt 30 rounder that I obtained through DRMS, and do not notice the same tightness.

Thanks for any help that you can give me.

Remove the follower and check the outside of the legs(area that rides in the front and back of the mag) for any burs in the plastic.  When the followers are taken out of the mold sometimes the injection area has a bit of residue.  If there is any, sand or file the spot down.  That should do it.

The part where we see the most incompatablity is the sides of the follower where it contacts the two smaller ribs on the inside. This is usally due to the way the metal forming dies push this part in further than the rest to the body.

Remove the followers that are sticking and look at this area. You most likly will see four areas of where the ribs are rubbing on the follower. Run a round file over these areas on the follower lightly and the followers should move freely.

The next generation of followers should be out in about two weeks and these will be much more compatiable with the range of mags that are out there.

Thanks for the info.  I'll check the followers and see if I can get them to work.

That fixed the problem.  Thanks.
