So I got one of their 16" middy alpha uppers a few months ago. It functions 100% so far with 500 rounds though it. The only problem is it ejects at 2 o'clock even with an H2 buffer. Plus about every 20-30 rounds it splits a case neck. I have tried all factory new brass ammo. 2 different lots of m193, m855 and wolf gold. I have shot over 10000 rounds of this stuff in other BCM uppers with no problem.
Fast forward to two week ago. I bought the exact same upper again to see if it's just this style. New upper spits brass around 3 o'clock with just an H buffer and so far zero split case necks out of 100 rounds though it.

I emailed BCM and they told me to send it in. So I did. They emailed me back and said nothing is wrong with it and everything is in spec. They ran 28 rounds of semiauto and 28 rounds of full auto with zero split necks. I told them to call me and they never did. They did not even mention the forward ejection. They sent it back to me.
I took it to the range yesterday for the first time and still forward ejection and I had a split neck on the first box of 20, xm193.
So what should I do now? It works perfect just a little over gassed and occasional split neck. The splits are not the whole way down the neck just around an 1/8 inch.
Keep it and use as a beater?
