I was cruising Gunbroker just checking out some of the insane prices some are asking there and came across this:

Colt SP1 Carbine

or is it a SP1 carbine?

Looks to have a heavier barrel than the standard SP1 carbine, tapered slip ring not straight, and it appears to be an A1 stock rather than the 2 position buttstock.

I emailed the seller and asked him what model it was, what the barrel twist rate was, etc.

*UPDATE WHILE TYPING*

Seller responded that it is a 6551 which doesn't make sense to me unless someone changed the upper.

The 6551 came out with  a 20" barrel, could be a 6001 that had the buttstock changed out

This is an SP1 that had the barrel changed out.  If it originally came with a collapsible stock, you would see the left-over staking marks on the rear of the lower receiver ring.  It looks like they stuck a 16" heavy barrel (a la 6721 tactical carbine barrel - if its marked Colt) and handguards on it.

It'e got a 6721 barrel on it. From the factory it should be a pencil barrel like the 6520 has.
The rate of twist would be 1/12 instead of the 1/7 used by the 6520.

It is a late SP1 with a cheap Brand X barrel installed.

That was my thought as well.

When the owner could not tell me what the twist was or what markings were on the barrel even when I noted where they would be on a Colt of that type I kind of figured aftermarket.
