Do you guys think it is worth paying the extra $ for the window p-mags.

I find the window invaluable when training (classes) and have learned to check ammo status during a lull in the fight.

Bring on the haters, most of which have never used a windowed PMAG n a training class.

In before the "I shoot till she runs dry then feed her with a new clip" crowd.

Emergency/speed reloads happen, if they can be avoided by a tac reload your day will go much smoother.  The window helps with IDing amount of ammo in the mag prior to a tac reload.

To each is own.  I'm always trying to find anything to make life easier without over complicating things.

I, myself, have no windowed mags, but without fail, every time I go shooting, I think to myself, "Man it'd be convenient to have windows on my mags."

For me, it came down to what I could afford, and what I needed. I wasn't losing anything by going windowless –– none of my Al mags have windows, but I did still gain all of the other benefits of the Pmag.

I'd say get one or two, and see what you think. If you find yourself using them, and can afford the extra few bucks for them, then go windows. If you never use them, go without.

I guess I could've made that shorter by just saying get one, try it, and see if you like it.

On the windowed Pmags, is the entires spring painted or is it just marked at various locations?  I think it would be good to be able to look in the window and see a bright green color on the srping when its fully loaded, then say yellow from between 10 and 20 and bright orange or red spring when it under 10.

that way you can look in the window and see quickly if you dont happen to catchthe marker that is on the spring.

just an idea ... I dont have any windowed mags just the original solid ones.

What I usually do. A buddy gave me the Idea. Is put a tracer in my bug out mags before my last three rounds. When the tracer goes off. No matter what the current situation is  (home invasion, civil war, zombies, obama revolution etc)  I am reminded that I have 3 rounds left.

A ranger buddy of mine taught me the same trick.  Load 2 rounds then load 2 tracers then load the mag out normally.

When I am shooting my can on the 22 with BDM mags Ill put in 2 subsonics then 2 minimag and then load out with subs again, so when Im shooting in a competition I know when it gets loud I need to change mags.

+1

All of my 30 round Pmag's are windowed.
I wish my 20's came with the window as well.

It's just easier to check to see which mags are full and which are needing to add a few more rounds.  I found it invaluable when I did a training class.  Saved me the time to second guess if the mag was full.  Since the class required dropping of a partially used mag to switch to a handgun, it help to know how many bullets I needed to add, and which mags ware full.

I suppose you can probably cut into the non window mags the same way that they have for the window one and add your own markings..

I am happy with all my P-MAGS. I prefer no window. I don't really like steel mags after having the P-MAGS.

I like them both, but I've never understood why the window isn't higher on the mag.

I am cheap, which mean that I usually go with the "No Window" PMAG's given the choice...

It does not need to be. See this video for orange indicator on spring...

The window is great. You'll learn that seeing it almost full means you have about 30 rds.  Seeing only a round or two is about 20. Seeing orange on the spring at the bottom is roughly 10, and that the orange at the top is bad juju.

As far as loading tracers? I'd prefer to be the only person that knows I'm reloading.  No need to scream "MOVE" for the badguy.

Thanks for the link!   I have wondered how the window helps with the last rounds, and now I know!

Seeing as I have a ton of aluminum mags, all my PMags are windowed.  No real additional utility to me, beyond the window.

PS I think tracers only light up at 50 yards or so.  you're not likely to see them at CQB distances.

Bcus the windowed pmags just look kool!
