I have a CMMG .22 kit that will double or more from time to time.  I have tried several brands of ammo with some improvement, but never completely stopping the problem.  I am guessing I need a reduced power hammer spring, but I don't know where to find one.  Any ideas???

You have two options:

1) Buy a JP yellow hammer spring.
2) Take your existing GI hammer spring and cut off one of the legs (make sure the remaining leg engages the groove of the trigger pin to stop it sliding out).

Option 2 is cheaper and works on my dedicated .22 rifle., but I'm not sure I would do it on a rifle used for more serious purposes.

I will try cutting the leg of the spring, if it does not work I will order the spring you suggested.  Thank you for your help.

Doubles will be caused by ammo, debris in the firing pin, or a bent frame(if the kit has been taken apart, this can happen)

I would not recommend cutting ANY spring.

It did this from the start, right out of the box. If I switch the kit to another rifle I have set up with a Ciener (sp?) kit it works fine making me think the hammer spring is stronger in the problem rifle.
