For the record, nothing wrong with LaRue products, I own a LaRue modular forgrip, surfire mount/light combo, and Harris bipod/mount combo on the rifle pictured.  So I decided I liked the Bobro mount better, I was interested in hearing comparisons between the two mounts...Mr. LaRue came off more defensive then necessary, and got the thread locked.  So he's passionate about his products, okay, fine, understandable, but don't push it.  If someone says something wrong just politely correct them.

As I remember it, all he said was "Head to head  Check your head-to-head facts, then post them." He's just asking for facts not BS spouted out of someones ass. IMO that guys was just trying to start something. Anyway, my point is that its not Larue that got the thread locked. For you to post that is dumb and the same nonsense that got the other thread locked.

No marks on my rails brother. I own 3 Larue mounts and thats all I put on my ARs. I scratch my guns up taking them out to use, hell I've taken theses mounts on and off lots of times and still no marks. I must of gotten the good ones.

Other than a couple little nicks on the corner of the rail sections of my doing, my receiver still looks like new, and I've probably mounted various LT mounts a few hundred times.

The optics section of AR15.com is hardly his "own" area, this industry forum maybe.

If the accusation was that LaRue QD mounts can and do mar the finnish on rifles (which I understood it to be) that's true.  It's not like it gouges huge chunks out of the rails or anything, but has marred the finnish a on my DD rails a bit.  It's not something that has bothered me though, the area is covered up by what's mounted and everything that is mounted is where I want it and I don't plan on moving it, even so my rifles aren't entering beauty contests.

Here is the QD mount for the Harris bi-pod on my rifle pictured in the other thread with the Bobro scope mount.  Pic is a bit blurry but you can see some of the marred finnish.

Here is the QD mount for the modular foregrip on my 16 in. carbine, same pattern where the grip had been mounted:

It's not like it really bothers me, hasn't stopped me from buying LaRue products, I'm happy with the mounts but as you can see they DO mar the finnish on atleast some quad rails and rifles.

You guys asked for pics of LaRue mounts marring the finnish on rifles.  You got them.  How you respond, or if you need to even respond at all, is up to you.

To be honest I had markings that looked very similar to your first pick and was able to simply wipe it away with a little WD-40 and the markings did not remain. Have you tried to do something like that?

A Larue mount "marred" my Larue rail one time. True story.

Even truer story. I took a rag, whipped it off, and POOF! It was gone.

Well, I may owe some people a bit of an apology.  After you mentioned that I took the mounts off and took a wet paper cloth and wiped away at the marks. I could have sworn they were gouges in the aluminium, but they for the most part came off.  The marring is still there in the aluminium, but it's barely noticeable, it wouldn't even show up if I took a picture of it with my camera. I made a mistake.
