| Recently purchased a 6721 hbar. AAc spr/m4 can is on the way. Should i have the the barel rethreaded to absolutely minimize the chances of an endcap/baffle strike. Its only 65 bucks through adco, so the moneys not the problem its just a pain in the ass to take it all apart and send it in. I probably already know the answer to this question. I also have a DPMS ap4 that will almost assuredly need to be rethreaded, but come on a colt? Please tell me that a $1400 dollar rifle comes with threads concentric to the bore. |

I have a DPMS AP4 and use it with a YHM 30QD can. Works perfect, no problems. The barrel is only 16" so if you wanted to re-thread it you would have to SBR it also.
I also have a Colt 6920 and use a can on it. I have used both a TAC16 thread on and the YHM 30QD. No big problems either way. The Colt threads have a short section in front of the barrel shoulder that caused extreme tightness in threading on my TAC16 can, the YHM QD threaded on fine it must have a larger thread relief. I mention this because you might have trouble noticing if the SPR mount is threading on all the way or hitting this short section in front of the shoulder. good luck. |
The threads on my two R0933 and R0977 barrels are perfect. I shoot a non-QD thread attached can on them and haven't had a baffle strike yet (knock on wood.)
ETA: You might want to ask in the Suppressors board, however I'm sure they will tell you to not mess with your Colt threads. http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=6&f=20 HTH! |
