Hi everyone I am thinking of painting one of my ar's with duracoat paint. I'm not sure if this thread belongs here, but I would like to know if anyone has tried this product yet, and how hard is it to apply. I have watched their video and id dos'nt seem that hard. I just do'nt want to ruin an AR.

Duracoat on wife's AR and Glock27.
Prepped the AR lower (DTI) before assembly. Upper (PSA) was taped off. Only removed dust cover and completely taped all openings. Remove hand guards and taped barrel.
The G27 was completely taken down. Removed trigger assembly and etc. Let dry 24 hours before reassembly.
Prepping is number one. Just followed directions for the Duracoat. Real easy to use and so far happy with the results.
Been done a little over a month and a half. Will see how well it really holds up over time.

There is a thread here on ARFCOM specifically for coatings and finishes, but since you're here and I have $0.03 cents, I'll give you my 2 cents. I've had a lot better luck with Cerakote's durability for a hunting and throw-around gun. It also mainly depends on how well you do it. Take your time with either Duracoat or Cerakote, and it'll last, but if you rush it or call it "good enough," then you're not getting what you really want.

We recommend Cerakote over Duracoat. After a couple years of testing several different coating manufactures we found Cerakote to be the best!
