Quoted: yea i was planning on using a magpul flip up rear sight though so i dunno how that will work out.... on one side there is a Z and on the other a little circle and 50 next to it....what would these markings mean? its a standard sight base. the markings are the forge marks. it doesnt really matter what forge it came from, there are only two types. F marked and standard. You can buy a .040" taller front sight post if you cant get it to sight in. You might need the higher post. I didnt. I used a det carry handle, not a BUIS. why do u want a magpul rear? are you planning on using optics?? if not, get the carry handle. they are much better for getting a Zero and adjusting ranges and windage. For instance, i have mine zeroed to 100 yrds. its 6 clicks under 3/6. then 200 is 3 clicks under, 300 is right on 3/6, then 400 and up, is right on the marks up to 600. the carry handle is the way to go, if you keep irons. AND its way more durable than the magpul. the carry handle Delton sells has a forge mark from Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises , one of the finest forges in the USA and the same one found on many Colts. |
| read this, it will help you understand how to sight in a AR for less than 300 yards if you want. its very handy. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=328143 |
| thanks alot for your help! yea im planning on learning to shoot with irons and put an aimpoint on it in a few months, otherwise i would definetly go with a carry handle. Do u think i have any chance of being able to zero the rifle with this front sight and a mbus? |

Do u think i have any chance of being able to zero the rifle with this front sight and a mbus? OK. I understand that you want to save money and only buy something once. i understand that u want a MBUS and a aimpoint, and u want those together on the rifle. fine. what are you going to use the rifle for? thats the determining factor. if you read and understand the link i put up, you will understand that standard A2 sights have elevation in the rear as well as windage. this allows you to zero in at a certain yardage and have the adjustments for elevation, like mine is set up for 100 zero and up to 600 can be achieved with the elevation knob. MBUS does not have elevation in the rear. it is a back up sight. you put it on your rifle, sight in to a specific range, using the front sight to achieve elevation and you leave it at that setting. its there so that in battle if your optic gets blown off, you can still waste a bad guy. i would suggest getting a carry handle. you will be amazed how well you shoot once its set up properly. then dont even buy the MBUS. you will NEVER use it. I go to the range with my DelTon's set up with carry handles, they are both basic rifles and shoot nice groups and the guys with their super cool, hey look at me set-ups that spent twice what i did shoot the same or worse groups as i do and i just laugh. That aimpoint wont make you a better shot. YOU make you a better shot. |
| haha you may be changing my opinion on what i want to do with the sights. I pretty much am using the rifle for plinking and hd, maybe some hunting. isnt there a fixed rear sight i think maybe daniel defense that is like the carry handle sight but without the carry handle. Then wouldnt I be able to cowitness that with a red dot? But would that fixed sight work the same as the carry handle or any other fixed rear |

Quoted: I knew this part was going to be harder than deciding on the rifle thanks alot for your help, from everything youve said i dont think ill go with the mbus anymore. Oh actually arent there two different types of carry handles to match up with the front sight?yeah, supposedly NON F marked FSB was made for the A2's. the F marked FSB is for the flat tops. I have both types of FSB on my deltons and carry handles on both and DO NOT have issues. |

they cost $6 plus shipping. dont buy em unless you need it. you might need it, you might not. you have to sight in your rifle before you will know. you can figure out how to sight in from this thread. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=493308 like i said, i have both types of FSB and they both work with carry handles. Its .040 of a difference. thats like 1 or 2 clicks of the front post. btw, you will need a front sight adjustment tool and if you get a adjustable stock, you will need a armorers wrench to tighten up the castle nut. if you get a rifle, that stock goes on with a screwdriver. |

i asked for the f marked front sight, but they didnt put it on when they made it i guess
