what is the deal about colt's not being milspec can some one explaine this to me. |
|
I'll try. Colt built a lot of rifles with larger than mil-spec pivot pin and fire control pins. I think the mil-spec calls for .250 and Colt built a ton of rifles with .312, or something like that. The bottom line is they are larger than what mil-spec called for and made it a pain in the ass for you and me. Oh yeah, they also moved away from the push pin and used a screw type pin Did I help? Yep, the new ones do use the mil-spec pivot pin. I've heard conflicting reports about the fire control pins. Some have said they are oversized and some have said they are mil-spec. I have a new MT6400c and the fire control pins don't look oversized to me but then again we may be talking about a millimeter here. Plus, I could give a crap about the fire control pins cuz I don't plan on swapping out the trigger. Marc |
| The one thing you have to realize is on this site Colts get hammered. Personaly, I like Colts and own a pre-ban M4 and a post-ban M4 (6400c) and love both dearly and would not give either one up. Don't get caught up in the "Colt ain't mil-spec" crap. You have a new rifle and you don't need to worry about Colt's shady dealings in the past...just shoot it and have fun! |

shady dealings in the past ?thats the problem they need to move into the future.smith and wesson will clean their clocks if you know what i mean.heck smith even offers a 1911 model now. wheres all the wheel guns colt.start making the DS again at a reasonable price and maby ill come back. |

**SOME** Colt models have the following non-standard features: - plastic buffers - plastic buttstock doors - oversized trigger pins - oversized front takedown - screw type front take down - sear block - chromelined chamber only, not the barrel Note I say some models, not all, hence the conflicting reports. Colt does offer true M4 receivers, and handguards. |
