they're a pretty busy company, I'd give it a couple weeks at least before calling.

My buddy sent in his colt python to have some work done on the cyclinder. It took around 3 months for him to get it back from Colt.

I wouldn't call for several weeks. Perhaps reposting in their industry forum would be more appropriate. You might get an answer more quickly.

If its been a week since they received it and they have failed to contact you, you should call them. Being "a pretty busy company" doesn't give them license to provide slow customer service. If their people are too busy to even look at your rifle within a week, then they need to hire more people.

They could just transfer people from the fit/finish section of QC since they seem to be redundant.

There was another guy who had a pretty serious Kaboom with his colt that posted here.  I think it took Colt a few weeks to even look at the gun.   They resolved the situation much to the satisfaction of the customer, as I recall, but it did take a few weeks, so I would be patient,

I agree with everyone else and say just wait them out, they will get to it.

If it's been over a week I would say call them.  Nothing pisses me off more than crickets from a company when you have a problem.  It doesn't take much time to send an e-mail letting you know they have received your rifle and will be looking at it ASAP.  Even if they don't give a specific date you at least know they got it that way.

I tend to not deal with companies that can't even extend such a simple courtesy.
