i posted this in the gereral and got nothing so i'll try here unce this is partly for my a4. I'm going to be setting up 2 ar's. a s&w 15T and a RRA A4 varmint 24". here's the glass i have to work with: 1. burris FF2 3.5-10x50 LRS 2. burris FF2 4.5-14x44 ball plex 3. burris sig 4-16x44 ball-mill dot 4. burris sig 4-16x44 electro-dot 5. burris compact 2-7x32 6. burris compact 1.75-5x28 7. bushnell ledgon 2-7x32 8. bushnell 4-12x40 9. bushenll trophy 1.75-4x32 i have the burris xts 135 that will be going on the s&w for the main sight (of course it has the flip-ups too) but i was thinking that i could take the xts off and put a small magnafited scope on to play around with. it's all about options. what about the varmint? well that's what i have, what would you do? |

Really depends on intended use. If prarie dogging, I would go with a variable power with good high end clarity and minimal paralax and minimal differentiation of focal point and eye relief at the various levels of magnification. For more tactical applications, I would go with a mid-powered variable (spotting and shooting capability), assuming that my intended targets will be both larger and closer than varmints. For general plinking, 100yd range visits, etc...I would go with a non-magnified red dot or a low powered magnified optic just to minimize eye strain and have more fun.... I'm sure others will chime in with personal experiences of the optics listed.... Steve/RRA |
I tried ordering this scope as it was my first choice, but I could not find ANYWHERE that had it in mildot. I ended up with the bushnell 3200 10x. Theres a review of it over on snipercentral. Its an amazing scope for the money, we will see how it performs when I actually get my rifle (on week 16 now). |
Millett only makes it in illuminated Mil-dot (I thought). The part number is BK81001. SWFA should have it in stock. |
Well, I ordered it online where it said in stock-- got an email saying it was out of stock and it was unknown when it would be back in stock. YMMV |
| I have an EOTech on my CAR and like it a lot. I'm sure I'd like it better in a close combat situation. However, being retired LEO, close combat opportunities are rather limited. I find the eyes are deficient even at 1 MOA and less than 100 yards and believe magnification is necessary for me to come anywhere close to 6" groups beyond 75 yards or so. |
