I know, everyone has new product ideas for Mark.  But, how cool would a tOBR backpack be?  It would have all of the right partitions to hold a broken-down tOBR for easy transport.  It could be available in all of the LaRue color flavors with adequate Molle webbing, and a nice embroidered dillo to boot.

Sure thing. I'm taking it to a long-range, precision rifle class tomorrow, but I will take some pictures Friday.

I use an EMS Free-Range which, unlike the Maxpedition Vulture, is no longer made unfortunately. The bag is in more of a bucket configuration but has a non tactical look, easily holds a rolled up TOBR plus about 6 .308 mags in the front admin pouch or maybe 8 5.56 30 round PMAGS. I think a bag would have to be a bit taller to accommodate the rolled up tool wrap and def have pockets that would isolate smaller items yet make them easy accessible. I'm with everyone here that it's an awesome idea and I'd def order one.

Another vote for Mystery Ranch.

I use LaRue MK2 tie down feet on a Vertx Gamut Plus LE bag.  Works great with lots of room for mags, suppressor, bipod and scope.  Also has compartment for hydration unit without looking too tacticool.

Mystery Ranch and Elberstock cost almost as much as a stealth upper..... Think we can come up with something much cheaper.... I have seen soft sided guitar cases that are designed for carrying a rifle. That said, I would be looking for something much smaller than any of the packs shown.

You can buy a cheaper version of the backpack type Mystery Ranch for about $50 at Sportsmen's Guide..... I have a couple of them, albeit they are not used as backpacks. They are just used to hold gear that may need moved quickly.... They have lasted a couple of years with pretty heavy gear in them.... Only use them about once a month.....

You want to put a Larue rifle in the same zipcode as something from sportsmans guide? One of the first neckbeards during the panic?

Here is mine in a Vulture II.  Kind of hard to get a good pic of a bag in a bag.

My rollup has an XRS with shade and bipod in it and fits with plenty on extra room on the sides.  Showed a LEO friend of mine and he said it was pretty scary.  That bag has a half dozen mags and a couple hundred rounds in it as well.

I am a fan of Mysteryranch but that is a HUGE backpack, you could carry a tOBR and a wall tent, kitchen tent, pack horses and a skinning shed as well as your tOBR and ammo in that  3000 cu in.   A pack sounds useful to me if it carries a tobr a few magazines and a water system.  The pack you listed is a end of the world survival pack.

I think you are thinking of Cheaper Than Dirt, I don't recall SG raising their ammo prices above anybody elses...... As far as that goes, I was just talking prices and sizes of backpacks..... I don't breakdown my 7.62 TOBR like some might, and currently I use a padded assault weapon gun case. I will eventually get a Storm case for it like I did my 5.56.... I can always use my tool box if I need incognito carry, but I would rather use a backpack or gym bag for that purpose....

Eberlestock Gunslinger 2.  Works great and plenty of room for everything else you need at the range.

Thats the same pack I've thrown mine in many times, 5.56 fits and feels nice. 7.62 kind of digs into your back if you have nothing else in there but ammo.

I've got this bag as my bug-out-bag always in my truck, and cav see if it fits in there... the 18" barrel throws a curve ball sometimes on internal dimension requirements.

ETA forgot the pic

Now that's what I'm talking about! Great looking bag, doesn't kill the wallet, and smaller than a Navy duffle bag!!!!

Here's my set-up with a 5.56 t-OBR 14.5" barrel in a  Vertx Gamut Plus LE bag.  Sorry for the overly large pics.

Standard front view.  Not the usual black, tan, coyote, ranger green or camo pattern look. No molle with minimal velcro.  Slightly more covert.

Alternate front view with front flap stowed, exposes plenty of molle/ velcro to work with if needed.

Side view

Middle compartment view with M&P 45 in tactigami velcro holster, Surefire SOCOM 762 suppressor, Nightforce NXS 1 3.5x15 scope in padded case,
bean bag, plenty of room for Black Hills Match 77 gr ammo, and Camel Back hydration unit……..Its a cave.

Closer view of middle compartment

Back compartment with padded 14.5' barrel resting inside forward grip, and upper/lower receivers (with CTR stock/ POD and Aimpoint Micro T2) all secured with MK 2 tie down velcro straps.

Right side pouch with lots of room for mags, lights, etc

Left side pouch with Harris bipod on LaRue swivel mount and suppressor removal glove

Lots of good options out there as this thread shows.  This one is working well for me so far.

I've also used this set-up for my 16" 7.62 t-OBR.  Fits quite nicely.  Would probably accommodate an 18 barrel, though I haven't tried that.

This one is probably one of the better ones I've seen in person, but it's for a "Full Size/Non-Takedown" AR:

LINK

Would be GREAT to see something like this "Built" for the TOBR and designed by LT.

It's London Bridge Trading that makes this Case, and they make some Bad Ass Gear!!!

I'll bet they'd be more than willing to work with Mark on a TOBR Case!!

I know a SF weapons guy that just came back from deployment that carried his tAR 5.56 and had his tOBR 7.62 in his pack on some days. I have seen some pics  of him in the field with both rifles. He is pretty fond of the ability to pack the tOBR.

Sorry the weather in Austin has not cooperated lately. Today was a nice day so I decided to do a little photo shoot. This isn't MFinger quality, but I only live 3 miles away from you, and can drop by one day for a real photo shoot if you like.

The 5th picture is with two TAB SACs full of over 200 rounds of 308.

I like the low-profile nature of that Vertx pack!

The non limited addition Vertx Gabut bag is easier to find, but slightly smaller. Should still accommodate at least a 16 in barrel.

I have one of these....Hazard 4 Plan B

Works really well for a 16" tOBR 556 if you can get used to having just one strap.

Just saw the Hazard 4 bag myself. Looks nice. Wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger if I needed a duty bag.
