how much weight can be shaved off a  Hbar by doing the under the handguard contour.  This is a 10.5 inch if that matters

Probably not a whole lot, off a 10.5", but bet it's near 1/2 lb, at the least. Keep in mind this is just a guess.

I have a 7.5 HBAR barrel I'm getting contoured which isn't that much to take off, but the way I see it, every
oz counts when making the gun light-weight.

I'm immensely surprised at how a gas block, flash hider and even magazines can add a lot of weight.
The YHM light rails don't come near as light-weight as the DD lite rails, a steel gas block is quite heavier
then an aluminum gas block, a fire-pig break is excessively heavy and the Blackdog .22 mags are even
heavier then the USGI mags...  by themselves it doesn't seem like much but when you add it all up it's
amazing how much weight it adds.

I say go for it, spend the money and get the lite results you want.

I believe it ends up being about 7oz or so.
