He mentioned here or maybe on the ARFCOM reloading forum, something about not feeling well.
I know he moved way out in the desert a while back. off the grid. hope he's doing ok. Anybody talk to him recently ? 73 Derek |

I was actually going to mention this during the net.
He was well past not feeling well, in the AZHTF he disclosed he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer and only had a few months to live, and was focusing on pain control -- he declined further treatment (he didn't have many options anyway.) He's not logged on since 12/12. I suspect there's not any good news behind that. ETA: Here's his posting. There's a separate posting on the HTF asking the same thing. Since he knew what was coming I suspect he probably made arrangements. |

first time i met him, was selling him a 6m yagi. noticed he had a Nissan truck similar to mine, with a geissele triggers decal on the back window FUCK YEAH later, he also bought my ts-281 and ftm-100. he invited me and my girls to visit, had a stocked lake and room to shoot rifles at several hundred yards. I never made it, always busy working seemed like every time i ham gear for sale on arfcom, he'd buy it LOL Last time i saw him was at a hamfest. he was showing me google earth pics of his new land in AZ....way off the grid pics on his QRZ page 73 John, and God Bless

I say leave this here, I knew him as a ham as well. This posting will naturally roll off in a couple months and
the memorial will stay. That way any hams that knew him that only visit here will see this thread. So far I haven't found mention of him in the memorial section (it's under General.) Most of the other activity is in the AZ HTF thread already linked. Presumably that one will get moved to memorial or there will be a new one made for John. |
