Is there one?  I received one this morning as a gift and it's my first Ham radio...  I am not the most technically savvy person so I am looking for something to speed up the learning process!  Thanks.

I hate to say it, but the only answer that worked for me was to buy the computer interface cable and export a configuration to the radio. i have 3 UV-5R's, all with the same configuration. I know the price is right, but I'm not a fan.

The site mentioned above is the best site on the net for them.

Do you already have your license? Or is that the next step? I'm not asking to be a nanny, I'm asking because a lot of the terminology and concepts needed to program the damn things are foreign to anyone who hasn't gotten at least a tech license. If you aren't licensed, get/study the manual first. The programming will make a lot more sense after that.

Is this kinda what you're looking for?

Baofeng ref

There's also a thread around here somewhere that does a more complete job of describing the options.

Everything you wanted to know about the UV-5R.  This is only for the UV-5R and variants.

Thanks a ton for putting this together - going through your guide with my new baofeng radio in October encouraged me to go from unlicensed to extra in November.  Your guide is excellent.

Thanks for the help...

I am not certified and I have zero experience....  This is a bit overwhelming but I plan to take it easy and gradually learn...
