I found these at my local grocery store, in their "shit we can't get rid of" bins. (I frequent this area every time I'm in the store, much to my wife's dismay.)
The batteries looked familiar, but I couldn't place them. 
Model #223... 6 Volts... I decided to take the chance. 
Hmmm, what do we have here? Two CR123 batteries inside a #223 battery pack. 6 Volts/2= 3 volts a piece, what do you know? 
Carefully deconstruct as pictured. 
They have a little tab welded onto the bottom of the assembly to complete the circuit. (sorry, not shown) Use some needle-nose pliers to remove You can see the left over weld spots where the tab was. 
Eight, Duracell CR123A batteries for about $1.13 apiece. Plus they are "sterile" so the bad guys won't know what country they're from if found. 
Might be useless information, might come in handy someday. |
