There are several major events this weekend that should keep Hams busy. I'm showing the following:
California QSO Party New Jersey QSO Party International Hellscheiber Contest Oceanic DX SSB Russian Digital Contest I already told the XYL I'll be on the radio most of the weekend. |

I need NJ via phone, hope I can mange some air time. I was up half the night with extreme left shoulder pain. Not sure what's going on, headed to see doctor later today. The pain is almost more than I can take right now. Been eating pills, no effect. I haven't lifted or strained on anything lately, hopefully doc can do something. I was planning to build a 10m loop & hanging, that is out unless I can get some relief. I'm too young to be falling apart.

I have been in the hospital all week with rahbdomyolysis, but assuming I am released today, I still plan to run K4C from Currahee mountain in Toccoa, GA tomorrow from 1400UTC to Sunday at 0400UTC.
The setup may be reduced to my vehicle rig, depending on when I am set free. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I'm willing to help anybody that needs NJ. Appreciate that. I may call on you. Should be able to grab one with the QSO party going on. Just got back from doctor, he shot me up with some steroids & put me back in the game. Have to take it easy a while & go back next week if pain persists.

This afternoon after what will probably be a 4 hour nap that I should be taking right now after getting off work, I get to hand out t-shirts for the Sunday event. Then Saturday I finish up my CERT training course and get my ID, and then Sunday I put on one of those pretty t-shirts and I'm out working on a marathon. And then a trip to the doctors office on Monday morning to reprogram the pacemaker And some jackass at work says I have an easy week since I took Friday night off |

Propagation wasn't very good today, but I managed 11 contacts in the Russian digital contest: 7 RTTY and 4 PSK63 (the only modes allowed).
I didn't see much activity from US hams. I bagged 10 DX out of the 11 QSOs: 3 Canada 3 Cuba 2 Ireland (same op, two bands) Guatemala South Africa I'm definitely sending for the South African card on Monday. ZR9C's QRZ page claims he has the only ZR9 prefix on the air, and he only uses it during international contests. I got him really weak on PSK63, but the exchange was clean. Did anyone else have good luck this weekend on any of the contests/QSO parties? And don't forget Sunday is the RSGB 21/28 contest, I think it runs for 12 hours. |

Cali stations didn't rain on me here like they did last year. Might be because I had a slightly less optimal antenna location, but dang was it ever easy to set up. Park car, throw poly over branch, run up 20m Parendfedz, connect to radio in trunk...profit! Just ran the car the full 5 hours and the Mazda 3 didn't even move the segment on the display. |
