Was banging my head against an issue I thought was my adapter or QRP rig.

Nope, turns out the netbook doesn't have enough smarts to run both CWskimmer AND fldigi.

I'm not sure this is a problem as I really intend to run only xlog and CWskimmer when doing SOTA activations.

But interesting to see this sort of firepower problem.  I guess WINE uses more resources than I would have thought.

Hard to get mad at an itty-bitty laptop with 5 hour batteries that cost $100 though...even when it does fail you.

LOL ETA...the issue was a noticeable 'stuttering' to the keying signal sent from fldigi to the rig via my homebrewed adapter.  I finally figured out it only happened when CWskimmer was also running, and then only when the CPU was topped out.

My Acer netbook 1.7 G Atom runs native Windows or Linux apps very well up to the point of getting swappy, but Wine adds a layer of klunkiness to it (if it will run an app at all).   I haven't messed with any of them but there are virtualization solutions that promise better functioning.   I haven't tried because I don't have a non-preactivated Windows (whatever it is called, i.e. a version which can be moved off of its original platform).
