I still have a Cabelas gift card and I just stumbled across something that looks to be worth buying. Its not 100% survival gear, but I think its close enough. The model I'm looking at is the Camelbak Menace. I think its the 2007 model, but it looks cool, has good reviews, and is dirt cheap (40 bucks). I know Camelbaks as a whole are great, but has anyone had experience with this particular model? If so, is it good?

Probably better off with a military model, simply from a durability standpoint.  All my civvie resevoirs have leaked/exploded eventually.  My military ones never have.

For $40 I don't think you could go wrong.  I bought a Camelback Rogue (almost zero storage space) for $40, if I could get one like that with some storage on it, that looks like a deal to me.  I use mine for when I ride offroad and it works like a charm.

I didn't know the bladders for the civie models were different than the ones for the military models.

Only certain models(indeed veryfew) have a special bladder with dividers inside it, but thats not for leaking/bursting so much, its to keep down sloshing noise and to keep shape.
The rest use the same reservoir as consumer models.
