Working on my last few cast before getting too dark I had a Bullseye Snakehead take my frog. Hard hit like always' I set the hook good and the fight was on. For like 2 seconds. After that was like reeling in some weeds. On the end was a lifeless snakehead. Total head scratcher moment. Bastard was 100% deader than a doornail. Looks like when I set the hook one of the barbs pierced his skull.and brained him. Never heard of that happening before. My fishing buddy didnt see the cast or brief fight' just me pulling in a dead as shit fish. Thought I was goofing around at first but this one was only like 3 lbs where the one I had before it was pushing 7. What luck lol |

We catch snakeheads in MD. Frogs and other surface baits work, but do do jigs, spinnerbaits, chatter baits, plugs... Big live minnows are like candy to them. The big one in the photo below is 35.5” and 13.75lbs. Attached File They are good rating and good looking when they are alive or fresh dead. I dispatch everyone I catch. I am stocked up on SHTF meats so anything I catch becomes cat, turtle, buzzard food. The spawner left its fry and the bluegills cleaned em up pretty quick. |

The ones you have are much better looking than the ones we have. Fugly bastards down here. You are right about them being good eating though. Might even be the best freshwater fish meat around. Super firm, absolutely no smell or fishy taste. I dont even bread em. Just into the pan with oil, butter, Tonys cajun seasoning, lemmon pepper and done. And I don't even like fish lol but I. will eat them. |
