I’m doing some trapping in some ponds I have access to. These aren’t farm ponds, so I’m just trying to figure out where the wild ones are. I’ve been moving the traps and it seems to be improving since that cold front left. I’ll keep updating the thread if I get any good hauls I did a boil just to test the burner and the flavoring. Not a lot of craws in there so it was mainly a fixin boil.       bbcode website |

Tag for info. Ive had great luck at one spot, a public small lake where the DNR puts walleye fry to grow before releasing them into the larger lakes. Sandy bottom and weedy. Problem is its close to an hour away. Closer to home no luck. Have tried sandy bottom with weeds, muddier spots, under bridges/around rocky cover, creeks, about everything I can think of. Bait is usually chopped carp, have also tried wet and dry cat/dog food. Help a guy out! |

And I’ve never met a bass or bream that could refuse a cricket. @Smallmouth As far as live bait is concerned I found that Smallmouth really like a nice bass minnow as well(they are cheaper and easier to find than softcraws) but fishing topwater at night has to be my favorite method for them. |
