Looking for DIY gear books.  I have seen alot of information on the net like how to make a stove out of a couple of coke cans or how to modify a flash light to make it brighter.  What I would like to find is a book that has information like that.  Already have the SOS, Army Survival Man., etc. Looking for somethine geared more to making your own gear, tools, weapons, etc.

You might want to look at some blacksmithing books- The authors I have are McRaven, Weigers (sp?) and a lady name lorilee, I forget the last name.  I'm sure there are similar sources for blademaking, and SCA type weapons.

I never found a good book on leather working, most of it is oriented towards the artistic side.

I disagree.  Foxfire is an oral history, not intended as a technology reference.  Very valuable, but history students don't ask the same questions an engineer might, or someone building an exhibit for a museum might.
