HRD was working great for me until DM-780 all of the sudden stopped talking to the main software. Something else I need to look into, been pretty inactive for too long.

Decent turnout tonight. Conditions were a little marginal but still pretty workable.
I wonder if we may need to move to 20M soon due to the state of the sun and more daylight hours. We had 8 stations + NC this week. |
For me it was the main HRD program losing comms with the rig.
Re-routing some cabling and some ferrite solved most of my issue. I still need to do a complete shack re-vamp since I've added some equipment and rigs with cables strung here and there. Time to tidy up a bit. |

I’m ready to try 20m next week. Still light here. And my antennae work better on 20m. |

I'll be present to NC this week.
At 2330Z I'll start the pre-net messages as usual, but will QSY to 20M (14067.5 KHz) for propagation tests after, if 20M is showing substantially better signals we'll switch to it. Hopefully a few of you will be listening for signal reports. |
UAA, I have you at S3-5 S/N 6db 100% copy.
UY I have you at S5 S/N 6-7db 100% copy. |

Whew, I was worried 40M was dead reading the above.
T-5 minutes to first 40M announcement. ETA: 40M notice out, now on 20M looking for reports on either band. ETA #2: Looks like 20M is better than 40M at the moment with 3 stations reporting. I'll update thread title and tonight's net is on 14067.5 + 1500 20M frequency. |
As I expected, NC is only about 30% copy here.
on 20m |

I had setup a ARQ script on FLDigi a while back for doing auto relay.

20M was working really, really well. A couple of you were sub S9 but I copied everyone fine.
We had 7 check ins plus NC at tonight's net. |
I should be around to NC this week. This week let's go straight to 20M -- I'll send the reminders at 2330Z
on 14067.5 and none on 7120. |
First reminder out at 2330Z.
ETA: 2345Z and 2350Z out as well. No traffic heard here so far. #2 2355Z out and hearing three stations so far. |

Decent conditions, I had everyone 100% tonight, I'd say things were a little worse than last
week, though. 8 stations + NC tonight. |

Must be something going around, I had set my audio up earlier, well before the net. When I went to check in the radio was way over driven, I saw it on the display, no idea if it was linear but the audio slider had somehow moved way up in level. Got it fixed quickly, but never had that happen before. I normally run 50-60 watts out with the ALC level way down.

I'll be around to NC this week's net. 20M/14067.5 unless prop sucks badly.

Someone just sent something on freq, it sounded right like Olivia 16/500, but it didn't decode. Looks like this:

View Quote Probably me. HRD/DM780 loses it's settings sometimes and I have to go into it and fix it. It was going into TX mode but showed ZERO power out. Had to change the soundcard settings to USB codec. It changes all on it's own sometimes. I probably should update my HRD copy, it's 14 years old. |

I switched shack PCs, upgraded the OS and the version of FLdigi this week so...
please check my signal for splatter, artifacts, etc. Trying to get back to as clean as I had before since I had to wipe all the prior FLdigi setup (and switch from hamlib to flrig and god knows what else.) |
prop looks pretty bad here, I have one strong station and everyone else is ghost print or close.

Can't hear NC at all but 30% copy...maybe.

Seems like propagation improved a little as the net progressed.
We had 5 stations + NC tonight. Thanks for checking in! I'll check my transciever's calibration, but I think what's going on is that I tuned the output on FLdigi per instructions, which required a lot more TX power from the 7300 to drive the KPA500, which probably resulted in the 7300 getting hotter than it used to. I didn't think I was over-driving before so not sure why there's such a big gap in output power old v. new. |

That was me trying to check in.
fldigi giving me fits. The radio would key for about a second, then key off, but fldigi continued to "transmit." I had it working, something changed to dork it up, so I had to scrub it and reinstall. And now I can't get it to key right. |

My PULSE audio mixer muted twice tonight. I had just updated the kernel so ? ? ?

I've got it somewhat under control but if I run more than 50W on 20m the computer freaks and does weird things. 40 and lower I can get a full 100w out without issue after I re-routed some cabling and some ferrite here and there. I'm in process of doing a shack overhaul since it's been some time since the last one. |

You can win, it does take patience. I heard a story, never needed to do this myself, some ham had to put a grounded piece of aluminum sheet metal under the glass desktop to literally suck down the RF field. I do have a huge ferrite core on the USB cable that feeds the audio and control signal to the rig from the computer. It's also as short as possible going to the computer. I need to check at high power but at barefoot I'm good. hth

I'm still on to NC tonight, but the reminders may be delayed a little. 14067.5 KHZ same as last week,
hopefully prop is better this week. |
So far I'd say prop is the worst on 20M I've seen in the past couple months.
ETA: Signal strengths improved later in the net. One thing I did notice is a lot of +10dB SNR in spite of conditions, so thing are quiet here at least. We have 5 stations + NC this week. |
I thought prop was pretty good here in Central Texas. I copied everyone with the portable delta loop antenna, PPO was a bit lighter than usual, but still copied 100%

I copied everyone but IL.
Did not hear IN checkin but caught ~95% of the comment with S0, nothing on the waterfall and crickets for audio. Olivia is magic. 30 minute warning out on 20m 14067.5
I don't do great on 20m , so some folks might need to be relayed in. Heard TX testing and another station with no decode. |
That was probably me testing, but I am having some RF feedback into USB port issues. Willl try to resolve before net.
ETA: I have virtually no copy on Net Control. Less than 5% copy. |
