| Trying to put together a serious first aid kit. ie-Curved sewing needles for stitches, scalpels, etc. Anyone got any ideas of where I could legally get xylocaine or novocaine? I'm not a doctor but if it came down to sewing myself up or bleeding out, I'd rather be prepared with the tools that will make it easier. Something to numb up the patient's damaged area would definitely be a plus. |
true shtf are any of us?  OP stick with what your trained with, having the stuff is cool, but unless you know how to use it like MMD said,,,, IMHO if your "bleeding" out. get some izzys a CAT, some gauze, ace wrap.... and antibiotics 1st..pain can be dealt with. true SHTF..if your that bad off or someone else...make them comfy,, and get them back to loved ones so they can say goodbye....reality sucks! YMMV |
Of course not...Though, if it comes down to it, I'm going to stitch myself up if I have no other option. What would you recommend if I'm out in the middle of nowhere with a gash that needs stitches? Hold out and try to find someone with the proper training? |
| Hell if you are determined to stitch yourself up, I have seen curved needles in fleamarkets. as for lidocaine and the like, I'd recommend a fifth of Jack Daniels. xylocaine won't do much and you won't be able to find novocaine; and if you are thinking of injecting a liocaine substance, the J.D. would be alot safer. |

horse shit - or maybe you get better... I've patched myself and others up in over a dozen third world countries cause there is no way in hell we were going to the local hospital. I once lanced and cleaned out a boil the size of a baseball on a guy's leg in a shithole in southern Russia and kept it clean for the four weeks we were stuck there.
