Let me give alittle back ground:

I have a well running 16HP Briggs Vtwin Vangaurd commercial engine. It is/was an 8K generator in its past life. The generator is literally fried inside, melted wire, etc.

Is there someone that has built their own generator that might know of a cost effective way to pair this engine up with another generator. I was planning on using this unit as a back up power source for my DEEP well pump at my BOL.

Any advise is appreciated!

Just buy a new generator "head" and replace the fried one. I bought a head and built a bracket to hook it up to my tractor and run it off of the PTO. Excellent set-up for long term power outages not the pesky couple hour types.

Thanks for the advise. Is this a finacially viable option? The gen heads I am seeing are called 2 bearing generators and seem to be between 700-900 plus shipping? I will followup on the ebay suggestion! Where did you purchase your heads from?

I have looked at those heads and felt they were chinese garbage. A good head is gonna cost some big bucks. I would not skimp and a generator head. YMMV
