Posted on another thread my diving into GMRS with a Vertex repeater (w/duplexer) and assorted /\/\ (moto gear).
I am putting the mast up on the eave of our house (like a dormer that is 20' high), I purchased a Channel Master 30' mast and am putting a Comet CA-712EFC set for the 460-470 mhz band 9dbi. Will 6 strand 20 GA set at 20 and 30 feet with a 3 guy setup work, the antenna is 2-3 pounds, wind load is 66 sq inches, I am running 1/2 inch heliax. What should I use for guy wire? I will have an effective 40-45 foot height, I am on one of the highest points in the county over looking Peoria 780' with the next highest at 680', I can see for miles at the crest of the hill, we are are 3/4 mile from the crest, still 50 feet above the crest, which per the propagation tool will give me 5-10 mile portable and 20-30 mile on mobile :) At 100 foot tower I would be invincible (and would be extremely poor) Current 40 foot height and 40 watts with 9dbi
