I need a "small" axe to split splits. I would like to buy a fancy one, once in my life to see what the fuss is all about. Im down to these three. Help me choose! gransforsbruk counciltool wetterlings These are all 2lb axes, all about 20" to 22" in length. I think its pretty much dealers choice at this point but I wanted to double check. |

Gransfors Council Tools Wetterlings Gransfors are well made and would be my first choice for heavy use. It would last several generations. I've used Council Tool products for years fighting wild fires. They are also well made and used heavily in the fire service and timber industry. Wetterlings is a brand I'm not familiar with. |

I thought Wetterlings had ceased to exist. I'm glad to know it has been revived. Hopefully they will add to their offerings. I have a couple and they are sweet. I also have some Council Velvicut which are very nice too. I only know Grasfors by reputation. You won't go wrong with any of them as long as you get the right one for your use. Be careful, those purchases can be addictive. My 2 Wetterlings are the same model and have probably the same head as the one you are looking at, but with a 20" handle. |
