by friggin fleas. What the hell. We have never had them in the house and all of a sudden everywhere. Kid unloading the dishwasher has seven on her socks in the kitchen. I go to help pick em and I get pounded on my socks. I get out the vacuum and start plowing away. One of my wife's spawn pipes up and says, " oh yeah, the dog has them all over his belly." The dog that was in the house all weekend. Out goes all bedding, sheets, blankets. I even spread DTE all over the kitchen floor and am going to vacuum in the morning.
What else works? Dont Barack me and tell me something that you heard or dreamed of. What has flat out worked? Help a brother out will ya? |
| This has worked for me in the past. IDK if your keen on putting this into the house but it works. We used it a couple years ago when a stray cat thought he was welcome into our house. |
| I use Demon WP (Cypermethrin) along with Martins IGR (insect growth regulator) with good success. Lately, I have also tried Cyonara 9.7 (9.7% Lamda-Cyhalothrin) outside the house, and it seemed to work fine too. Be aware though, the Demon WP does leave a white residue after it dries, though it can be easily wiped off from most nonporous surfaces. You can find these at feed stores and pool supply stores, at least around here. Otherwise, you can order it online. |

Is the residue significant enough that you wouldn't apply it carpet? Can you mix those two agents in the same sprayer? TIA. |

Lesco Cross Check.
It is an indoor safe liquid that is a nuclear bomb on all insects. Safe for use in the house and will not harm pets or people. Safe for use in restaurant food storage area. I use it on my yard and in my house. It kills black field crickets, red bugs, spiders, fire ants, black carpenter ants, roaches, aphids, and a long, long list of other pesky pests. |

Stick to baseboards and under cabinets. Yes, you can mix the Demon WP with the IGR in the same sprayer. |
| All our dogs are on the Front line and Revolution. That way it covers the heart worm stuff also. It's been years since I've even seen a flea in our home. (3 dogs,3 cats,1 HUGE ASS 17 LB RABBIT , And a hamster). And yes the rabbit is better liter box trained than any cat. And enjoys eating my favorite snack, carrots. Minus the ranch of course. But she will drink beer. |

I think the tide of the war is turning following carpet powder and $20 a can Sentry - Pyro spray. I will say that our beds have been a refuge because they are higher up off the carpet. The fleas just cant jump high enough to get us. Everyone is flea paranoid right now too.
I did check for those other chemicals at local stores but I did not find any. I also did not mail order because of time it would take to get the products mentioned. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. |

a temporary solution is flea bombs. but unless you get rid of the source you they will continue to return
problem doesnt just come from your animals. how much sand do you have around your house? going to have to treat your yard a few times as well. sister bought a house and the not so close neighbors raised birds. lots of sand around the house and my sister had a crazy flea problem as in walk up to her front door and fleas would cover your socks in the hundred... consider this a tag while I go figure out what we used on her yard and in the house |

I've successfully gotten rid of flea infestations simply by using Raid (it was all I had available as a college kid, way back when).
I'm sure some of the products others have mentioned will work at least as well, & probably better. The one thing I did discover, by trial & error, and later confirmed when reading "how to" do what I'd already done, is that you have to kill the eggs and/or succeeding generations, too. IIRC, it took me 2-3 weeks––maybe longer–– to get rid of everything...sprayed... sprayed again a few days later...and again a few days later. Kept this up for the entire 2-3 weeks, but got rid of the little buggers. Good luck! David |

They leave no visible residue. I just got 32 oz of Cyzmic CS for $86. That should get me about 50 gallons when mixed so I am good on pest control for a few years. I would check with these guys about carpet. http://store.doyourownpestcontrol.com/demand-cs-8-oz |
| Diatomaceous Earth. Safe enough to eat (get the food grade), yet will have those critters beggin for mercy in 2 days. Works well in carpets, around the outside of your house, inside your grain storage, etc. Its pretty cool stuff, and very safe. Doesn't work through chemistry, but by mechanically ruining their exoskeleton. You can get a 50 lb bag for $60 or so. Like I said, get the Food grade, the whiter the better. The gray indicates more clay content. Easy to vacuum up when done. |

Put the dog on Comfortis, you will thank me later.
I tried advantix, advantage, revolution all the others and still had fleas. Put the dog on ONE dose of Comfortis, sprayed the yard with a standard spectracide bug killer and I have not seen a flea all summer long. It was a tad bit expensive but well worth it to not have to pick fleas off or keep spraying and treating with spot treatments on the dog. |
| The dark DE sucks compared to the white powder. A few have managed to escape death but a vacuum is a great back up system. I will give the dogs something more as I have tried the DE on them with the drops. I have also dusted their bedding and sprayed the cats with the pressure washer. (for fun as they ran by chased by the dog but told the wifey I was getting fleas off of them) Thanks again for the SF love. |
