Do my taters have to flower to make taters?  They've been in the ground since St. Patricks Day.  My plants have been 3 ft tall for months.  They are now starting to die off at the bottoms.  I'll try to take and post some pictures tonight.

Does it matter that they have not gotten any flowers yet?  I found some info that says Yukon Golds don't get many flowers on them.

It's funny, I read both of your threads thinking "This is relevant to my interests."

I am trying to think when I planted mine but they are flowering now. I think it has been about 6 weeks or so.

I planted Yukons and Reds on March 1, started digging the Yukons June 6. Stalks have started dying off in this heat so as soon as a couple die I dig em up for storage. All my taters flowered out 2 or 3 weeks ago,

If yours are dying from the bottom you might want to dig one up and see whats going on since most of the ones I've had had the leaves die first after the stalks fell over. The only time that I had them die from the bottom (ground line) they were rotting in the ground. How much have you watered/
