I have been on here for sometime now and never made a formal introduction. I have been figuring out one way or another to survive and its been a pleasure learning from alot of you. I collect alot of gear, but then I go on test runs. Will turn off the power to my house over a week period or have someone drop me off in the middle of no where and see how the gear that I have performs. I have found that somethings that people recommend are so right on spot and somethings people say might sound good on paper but in reality are a load of crap. I just want to say thank you to everyone here for helping me along my journeys and hope to continue to learn for a long time to come.

Nice to meet you.

Gear definitely needs to be tested. I've met folks that bought gas masks years before that ask "how do you put those filters in the mask?"

My reply is usually "well it's good you didn't need it eh?"

Welcome Dan .  Looks like you are off to a good start.  You might want to share some of your test on equipment and gear or outdoor experience in the future.  I agree with you putting equipment on test runs is a great way to find out what works and what does not.
