I'm heading to Philpott Lake in Virginia in a few weeks and am looking for a contour map of the lake showing water depths.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks! |

This page shows the contact info to get one. I'm sure it won't be as good as the Fishing Hotspots maps though.

What you want is a nautical chart not a map although some maps have depth.
Charts I get from the map store and buy the Army Corp of Engineer charts for inland waters. Now some Lakes they do and some they don't. They do all navigational water. Baring that those water resistant lake maps they sell at about any boating store or bait store around a lake are about the next best thing. Of the GPS software program maps, Lowrance is the cats meow for water. About their best is a program called "Fishing Hotspots Pro". It has depth contour lines, fishing attractors, boat ramps, marinas, plus the normal things like power lines and pipe lines plus fishing tips. That's sold in sections, $100 a section, VA is in the EAST section which is the entire eastern seaboard and as far west as central TN. Philpott is one of the enhanced maps. If you can find someone with the software, they could print you of a map. I don't have a Lowrance. I'm using Magellan but most softwares are computer uploadable and printable. The detail in the Lowarance systems is good compared to Garmin or Magellan, its definitely on my wish list. Tj |
