I just got a MSS from a buddy back home from deployment. I sent him stuff for his unit and he gave me a ton of gear as a thank you, which was unexpected. I have wanted an MSS for a while but didn't want to pay the $, now that I have one, how should I store it? I know with modern bags it isn't a good idea to store them under compression as it can mess with their temp ratings by crushing the filling etc. Not totally sure how it all works, but it seems to be common out there for backpacking sleeping bags.

So how should I store and care for the system?

Thanks

The Ideal way to store sleeping bags is to basically hang them from the rafters or any place where they are not compressed. You can also do something like this. You get the idea.  The worst thing you can is to store the bags in the issued compression sack.

Putting it inside a GI duffel bag won't compress it much at all, will keep it clean, and is ez to tote.

Take it out every now and then, fluff it, sun it a bit, then re-stow.

I keep my bags in extra large rubbermade totes with lid.

I keep mine uncompressed in el-cheapo duffel bags.  FWIW...

When the Mrs wasnt in the picture and I had the WHOLE bedroom closet I hung mine from the hanger bar
