Actually I had to shoot it, since I didn't place the stake far enough out in the creek. Checked my traps this evening and he was on the bank and pissed off. Put a 22 thru his neck and he jumped in the water and died
But as far as cruel, I aint gonna argue with you, just say "Its a trapping forum what do you expect?" |

That shit is cruel... Suffered while drowning.... You obviously aren't a trapper and with that being said, you have no business in the Trapping and Small Game TECHNICAL forum. If you have constructive input, feel free to hang around. If not get back in General Discussion. This is not the place to discuss how you feel about trapping/hunting. |

I have no idea what the "Trigger Pull" if you will is. On this particular type of trap, the Sleep Creek #3, its different than my Victors or my Bridger's , in that you can set the pan differently, either hair trigger, middle of the road, or heavy. I set these with very little "Sear Engagement" between the pan and the tung. If that makes sense?

Congrats on your catch! In my experience, beaver aren't as tough to catch as they are to put up properly. How much time did you spend on the beam fleshing him? I think my first one took me almost an hour and a half. BTW, that "tung" thing is called the "dog" on a trap.

| PSYWAR, you really need to check out Trapperman.com. It's the ARFCOM of trapping. |

So you're doing a taxidermy tan on it? I never salt mine, just put them on the stretchers and let them dry then, if I'm having them tanned, send them off to the tannery for a garment tan. I've used a couple different sources for that. One of them is Moyle Mink & Tannery. The results are great, soft supple leather that can be made into a garment or a wall hanging. Are you looking to trap more beavers?
