Small mule deer I shot on the last day I could hunt for the season.  6.8 SPC 110gr V-Max, 28  yards.  Two shots in about 2 seconds, first through the front shoulder exited in front of the rear leg, second was behind the front shoulder exited the same shoulder the first bullet went in.....it made a mess of the shoulder.

Probably some of the best deer meat I have had though.

First ever buck (not much of a rack, but good eating) today, 10/23.  293 yards by the range finder after the fact, using a Springfield 1903 (30-06).  Hell of a hike back out, 3-4 hours, mostly uphill.

I shot this guy last morning of our 10 day season. We spent 9 days looking for this ones dad, never found him tho.

Eastern Oregom mule deer. 70 yd uphill shot from just off the road. 30-06  He was really easy to spot with the arrow stickin out of his forhead. Bow season had ended 2 weeks prior to me shooting him and had been open 6 weeks prior. It wes the easiest recovery I have ever had. Straight down hill through grass stilll wet from the morning dew.

here is a close up.

As a bow hunter, I am ashamed of some who call themselves "bowhunters". Why anyone would take such an unethical shot is beyond me. I wouldn't recommend a head shot with a firearm, let alone a bow. Thanks, NWZJ, for finishing the job that the slob hunter started.

To everyone who has posted photos, congratulations on some fine-looking deer.

I guess it was just meant to be. This was my first rifle season in a long time. I generally bow hunt. I too thought, why take that shot at a spike? Maybe it was a complete miss  [:// Other than a blind left eye he seemed totally healthy. The arrow lodged just under the brain at the base of the skull. I have been hearing quite a few stories about animals harvested with broad heads or bullets lodged in em lately.

Filled both my doe tags yesterday first one a muley doe was a 400 yard shot perfect hit took out both the heart and liver she made a short 15 yard dash before she dropped.

The second one was a whitetail she jumped out of some brush about 50 yrds away and headed straight uphill away from me.  The only shot I had was a "Texas lung shot" so I put the cross hairs on the little brown bullseye and let her have it.  I was about an inch low and to the left it barely nicked her rump and one loin. She made it about 200 yards before her belly opened up like it had a zipper and she lost her stomach and rest of her digestive tract. Needless to say it didn't take long to field dress her. I know some here will say that that was not an ethical shot but at that range I knew she wouldn't be going far. Warning graphic pic.

ETA DPMS AP4 .308
Luepold 6x18 40
LT-104 mount
Winchester supreme balistic tips 168 gr.

Here's the second buck of the day I killed this past Saturday.  Updated pics attached.

Here is proof that passing on the spikes and small buck pays off.  These results are from 3 years worth of letting all small bucks "go to grow"  Not a major management operation, 2 parcels of joining land - one is 70 acres (where I hunt w/ 2 other guys) the other is 100 acres (3 hunters) just holding off on the trigger for small bucks and killing does instead.  One 7pt, one 6pt and two 8pts.  I killed another 8pt that morning too that I should have passed that isn't in this pic.

These above deer were all killed on opening day of muzzleloader except the 8pt with the horns cut off.  Killed a week prior during bow season on the same property.

Good job, Are you satisfied with the fusions performance? Did the bullet come apart? How large of a fragment are you talking about? They are advertised to hold together no matter what. I use 150gr. and have not seen any fragmenting yet.

I was with him when he shot her, she went down pretty hard, she just sort of lurched and rolled down the hill kicking,  the fragment may have been bone as well.

I live in VA not WV, regulations are totally different.

You can kill two a day, six a license year. Of the six deer limit, no more than three may be antlered deer and at least three must be antlerless deer.  You can kill more than 2 deer a day if you are on a DMAP property which I am.

yeah! what he said...  i thought the round performed real well. now that i think about it, the bullet could of passed thru lung 1, the heart and then lung 2. that seems to make much more sense! the round ripped thru the lungs, they looked like shit! i am very happy with the fusion and my rifle seems to enjoy them as well.
