I have a few old fiberglass trolling rods that belonged to my dad. I hate to just bin them, I have many hours sitting in a boat with my dad on them, but they are useless now. Dad was too "thrifty" to buy fancy things like roller tips so these are hardware store grade trolling rods that have grooves worn in the tip tops from the old monel lines (wire) we used trolling for mackinaw. Anyone wanting to use them would have to change at least the tip top, possibly all the guides - I think new guides would cost more than the rods are worth. None of our kids are interested in this stuff in the least. I think I have 2 or 3 Penn reals still loaded with monel. I used to have a reel that belonged to my grandfather that was loaded with copper wire they used for trolling for macs. I think my brother has that one - and the bamboo rod that went with it. What to do with this stuff? |
