Suppose you want to program your radio with some frequencies (e.g., public safety) you'd like to monitor, but don't want to transmit on by accident.

Using one of the NOAA weather frequencies as an example, enter 162.400 in the Frequency cell, select minus (-) in the Duplex cell, and enter 162.400 in the Offset cell.

This makes the RX frequency 162.400 but the TX frequency 0 MHz.  My Baofeng simply beeps when I press PTT on a channel configured like that.

Someone just kindly informed me of a better way to do this:  set the Duplex column to "Off" for that channel.

I thought you just left the TX freq blank.

It has been a long time since I programmed mine.

Kind of a weird way to implement programming software.  All the software I'm familiar with simply shows RX frequency and tones, and TX frequency and tones.  Either a TX inhibit checkbox or zero out the TX freq box.
