Our golden retriever of 8 years just suddenly died tonight, she got all short of breath and then passed. She was fine up till then.
God take her into your arms and hold her until we all meet again. Scott

"this too, shall pass"

A "GOLDEN" GOOD-BYE

To our Golden Retriever, Shockoe

I sit and try to write the words, I want your heart to hear.
Hoping to find some comfort, in the fact that your not here.
I look out into the open field, that you once occupied,
Knowing now that field is empty, because my love, you've died.
I do believe with all my heart, that your soul has gone to be,
With all the other angel dogs, that you were meant to see.
We will have to stay behind, until God calls us too,
So do not be afraid, that he's only called for you.
The water is still, in the pond that you played,
And your bed is so empty, where your pretty head laid.
Our bed is to empty, where you once laid between,
the two people who LOVED you and now only dream,
That one day our eyes will shut one last time,
and you will come greet us, angel of mine.
Until then, I'll keep trying to see through my tears,
with memories you left us, to reflect through the years.
We'll never forget one minute we spent,
of loving and laughing, of places we went.
And I dread the day that your scent disappears,
for it's "proof" to me, Shockie, that you were just here!
But one day will come, when we'll start to see through,
the pain of the moment, and remember just "you".
Now you go and play, and look down when you can,
remembering we love you, and this isn't the end.

-Holly W. Gray, Shockie's mommy

Always tough losing your best friend.  Lost my Rottie Jasmine a little 14 months now, and still think about what a great friend she was.

Had to make "the decision" almost three years ago for Sydney and it still hurts. Tears are in my eyes now just thinking about him. So you are not alone in your grief. The best dogs never live long enough. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Be strong.  Rest in peace pupper

I lost 3 dogs in 4 years. 9yr old lab , 17 yr old shepheard and an unknown age Pomeranian had her from 95- her passing in 08 and she was non a puppy when we got her so who knows. My Lab Sloan I fear isnt long for this world also =(

To me loosing a dog is worse then a family member. People age slowly and you can see it comming. Our best friends cant talk and other then sore and stiff they are a puppy in our eyes for life.

Sorry for your loss.  I get choked up just thinking about one of my dogs going.  But I'm a firm believer that ALL dogs go to heaven.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I have 2 goldens, they are my best friends - I can't imagine my world without them, I know someday their time will come, and I dread thinking of it. They are very unique breed - so caring and so full of spirit.

I pray for you and your friend - may you find some peace in knowing she's in a better place - no ticks or fleas, only sunny days and wide open places that you know Goldens love to run and explore in.

I'm really sorry for your loss.
