Any tricks to getting this program to work, been trying all day to get it to work and to no avail. Figured it would be nice to get some emails off to my family out west after the storm passes.

Is there any better options for sending email through the winlink system?

Stan,

Give me some symptoms of your problem and some data and we can probably get it running. It's not a hugely complicated program to get running.

What radio?
What interface?
What operating system?
What problems are you experiencing specifically?

Thanks,

aa

Ok,

Homebrew Interface with CI-V
Windows Vista

Currently with WINMOR W2K it will control the rig through the CI-V, it will also key the rig no problems. It will send the tones with no problems through the speakers, but the tones are not very loud. When it is trying to contact a node I have no output power showing on the power meter of the radio.

On PSK with the interface I can get 100w output with no problem, but nothing on the meter through WINMOR. And of course it will not connect to any node.

I'll assume your speaker port is what is driving the radio.

When you open a WL2K session, and in the session window select the setup menu, what is your drive level set to?

Yes the headphone jack is driving the TX, and the Transmit drive is set to 90%

100%?

Also, double check that all Windows volume settings stay max'd when RMS Express is running (you probably did, but it never hurts to be thorough...)

I got it figured out, thanks for the help. I had a loose wire at the isolation transformer.

Funny thing is I switched to digital master and was fine, made some QSO's and tried to use WNMOR and it would not work, back to DM and worked fine. It did not make sense that I would have audio out of the speakers and no power. After posting here decided to work more digital and it would not work. Found the wire problem and went into WINMOR and got a connection and my first email out on the second try.

Excellent! Winmor is pretty cool, eh? HF email for the win!

I finally got it working a couple weeks ago too. My problem was dealing with the .net Windows software.

I'm using it with a signalink and have made 3 connections so far.

Yes it is very cool, not something I would want to use every day, it took 5.7min to get the email with my web mail password!  But the power grids here are usually pretty terrible, and we loose power a lot. Just lost power in fact for about 30 seconds for the first time all day, but the winds are getting to the worst point with the eye-wall of the storm about 15 miles from us. Go figure

Will be nice to be able to let people know you are ok when they do not have a ham license, and all of the marginal means of comms craps in the bucket.
