I'm teaching the emcomm portion of a Technician class on Thur and wanted to show of some go-boxes in addition to my own. If you don't mind sharing pls drop a pic or two in here. Tnx!

Well, I look at it like this....Use the right tool for the job.  You've got more than one screwdriver in the toolbox, right?
The UHF/VHF FT-8800R (RH radio in my box) is a 2m/70cm radio for short range comms.  I use mine for local city/county repeater comms and to monitor the local airport unicom frequencies.
The IC-703+ (LH radio in my box) is a low power (QRP) 10w, HF radio that on a good day has reached Trinidad and Tobago.  Very energy efficient on battery power.
The stand alone radio is an IC-7200, a HF 100w transceiver that can talk around the world, conditions permitting.

ETA:  Check out ar-jedi's tacked thread Ham Radio 101.  It's chocked full of info for beginners and Old Men alike.

It's an Icom IC-7200 custom painted by Dan Gagnon WZ1P.  It's, uh... it's green!

Much obliged guys!

ETA: Damnit Jim!! I sent an email to the course coordinator to get specifics about the venue and the response back is that it'd been cancelled. Apparently I never got the email that there weren't enough students. Sunny beaches.

At least on the bright side I'll be ready for when it's rescheduled.

It took entirely too long for the orange box to show up. 5 demerits.

I don't know why this popped into my head when I saw the last pic but did you ever get that bike out of the living room?

a pic of Sprague Grayden (work safe) reminds you of *my* household situation?  i guess that's not a bad thing!

of course i got the motorcycle out of the living room, otherwise my 11th anniversary last weekend would have been a totally different kind of day.  i have to confess, my wife was good to me those years when we had the house with the unheated garage –– i pushed the envelope every winter to do a teardown at one end of the house or the other.  you can't put 1000 miles on an enduro bike every year and expect not to do preventative maintenance.  it's all fun and games until you are pushing your bike 7 miles out of the woods.  and one year i did the work in the kitchen (which opened up onto the back deck) –– and had to make or buy dinner for 17 days while i had parts and tools everywhere.  i'd post pics but you guys would really cringe at the thought of how scary your wife's wrath would be.

5. Area to store extra cables

The whole tray fits into the bottom compartment. I've tested PSK31 from the hurricane shelter to the EOC with great success. Unfortunately, not many hurricanes have hit this area lately. :-(

This is the upper tray. I've added a noise filter since this picture was taken.

Here is the power schematic for my box (sans the second tray)

Now I like this, some of you guys are way to smart for me...but this is a simple solution for me, put a dual band UHF/VHF with a AC & 12v adapter and I can tote the can wherever I need to go...hmmmm...plenty of cans laying around

I used a Zero Halliburton case that I had laying around.

Yaesu 857D with a LDG YT100 tuner and a switching power supply.

The left side controls the inputs (either 12VDC PowerPole or 110VAC input).  The switch selects the source.  The breakers protect the radio and the output to the other set of PowerPoles.  The center set of PowerPoles allow for 12VDC output.  The center toggle switch switches between 100w and 20w output (for power consumption).  The antenna connections are on the right (HF and VHF/UHF).  I use a SGC antenna coupler at home and it plugs right into the 12VDC output.

The fun of a GoBox is to take a concept and get creative with it.  Keep the forum informed with what you come up with!

SKB US Series 4U 19" Shelf Rack. I bought it from here: Florida Case Depot.  They also sell other styles of SKB cases.

I got a great deal on it. The guy who owns the shop is very pro military and politically right. My kind of place.

ETA: I added the stencils myself. My wife wouldn't allow me to buy anymore on the credit card, so I went to the local hobby shops and got a few stencils for a couple of bucks, bought some UV resistant orange paint, and applied to the case.

ETA2:  They also sell Pelican, Otter, Seahorse, and Keal.

That SKB case is what I use. I camoed mine the other day.

Incidentally....Seahorse cases are great and about half the price of Pelican.

Actually, it was your MARS setup that inspired me to get a similar setup.

Speaking of MARS, I'm now in training with the NMC MARS.
