I recently acquired a new Mossberg 500 pistol griped shotgun with an 18.5" 'breacher' barrel.  I reluctantly took it in on a trade and I've already got a couple of 870 shotguns, one Police and one setup as a hunter with slug and various bird barrels.

Is there anything I can seriously use this for?  I can't imagine this as a SHTF tool, but somebody may surprise me....maybe I should load it up with reduced recoil shells and keep it as a truck gun?

Any suggestions?

Personally I see no need for a pistol grip only setup.
There is ALWAYS a use for another shotgun, but with shoulder stock AND pistol grip, you get the best of both worlds.

Hell, if you don't want it though I'll take it off your hands for the cost of shipping and transfer.

If it were me I'd sell or trade it for something I needed more.

You could also put a cheap synthetic stock on it and keep it as a spare or hand-out. I think Walmart used to carry stock sets for the 500 for something like $30.

AFAIK, they're not bad guns.

Being relatively compact, it would make a good truck gun, but not much for hunting withoutt he stock.  As mentioned, you can get a regular stock for it relatively cheap, and if not hing else, it's a good hand-out gun.

Why not just get a regular stock or even better, ATI makes a really great replacement telescoping tacticool one...

Buy a folding stock for it. Best of both worlds, compact and you can hit something with it.

I had a Mossberg 500 Persuader for several years and by all accounts, it was a very reliable and cost affective shotgun.  Howver, as others have said the pistol grip isn't very practical so you might consider getting yourself a stock to put on this shotgun.

I picked one up, cheap, at a pawn shop. I got a cheap buttstock for it and put it in the van. That way if it gets banged-up I'm not out alot of money.

Thanks guys - I think I'll buy a folding stock and find a place for it in my truck.
