I'm a pretty big dude, so I just bladed at 45 after a massive adrenaline dump and jumped out of my treestand and broke his neck. Quick clean kill.
lol, I used a 14.5" m4gery in .223 and hornady 75 grain to take this 2008 WVA buck. Not my biggest, but I'm proud of him. Scored 122 and change. Ran about 40 yards and dropped, blood trailing massively through the mouth after about 15 yards, lungs came out in separate pieces. Also shot a doe, same deal on the recovery, gave it to a needy WVA family. 
And here's my 08 Ohio Bow buck, for when a hunter has to be a true hunter. Snuck into his bedding area and shot him bedded down, quartering to me at 40 yards. perfect shot, went about 60 yards into a cut bean field and dropped. Scored 128 and change. Hardest shot I've ever taken with a bow, but I guess I dont practice my ass off just to take chip shots.

Went out this past Saturday and was rewarded with this 8 pt. basket. My first buck with the 6.8 I built. Dropped him in his bed. I shot a nubbin out of the same group of deer that day. 3 deer total this year...I love my new 6.8!

| I'm really surprised at the number of states that allow white tail hunting with 5.56 or 223 I want to go to WV just to hunt with a 5.56 or .223. VA is not one of them I bought a 7.62x 39 upper just to hunt with an AR here in VA. I know WV and I think Texas but I was shocked to see a lot of western states. |

A friend and I did a little early deer hunting, Here is my first damage control permit deer for the year. We shot 4 deer tonight, one doe and 3 of these.
Shot with a Remington 700 in .308 at a little over 125yds 
I am pretty sure my dog is a lot bigger, but the farmer who got the permits wants them all dead. If its brown, it goes down! |

Guess that is why I call myself a Hunter/Sportsman. ....Huh?...........you have got to be kiddin' me. being from Tennessee...you obviously have no idea of what an overpopulation of deer in Ohio entails. do you derive you income from the land? if not.....then I suggest you talk to farmers who do and see how they feel about losing 30 - 40% of their crops to varmints that are larger than a groundhog. nice kill there tastyweasel.... |

Um, let me see I hunt on average 7-9 states(starting in Wisconsin, and going South to Ga. To include IA,IL,IN,KY,TN,MO,MS, AL,TX) a year. Yes we have a farm, and we farm it for income. I have no problem with taking deer to thin the herd. (If the State DNRs would quit raising the license fees, more people would hunt, and therefore lower herd numbers) Also if more landowners would open their lands to hunters like they did 20-25 years ago, this would also lower the herd numbers. What I do have an issue with is shoorting fawns. Take a Mature doe, or several. I also have issue with people who just shoot the deer and leave them lay. How much meat did he get out of that fawn? See as a Hunter/Sportsman, I was taught if you shoot it, you eat it!!!!! And that is what is the difference between a Hunter/Sportsman and a killer. |

I couldn't shoot a fawn, but I can't judge those that do. It's a part of life, it has to be done sometimes. Telling someone they aren't a hunter/sportsman because they are eradicating an over population of an animal destroying what puts food on the table for some, is bullshit.

I am glad to see that more & more people are using the "neck shot"... Two things will happen with that shot-
1. You will miss & the deer will walk (or run) away unharmed. 2. It will drop where it stood I have used this shot on all but one of my dispatches. The heart shot I did take, he only ran about 70 yards. Pathfinder |

Get off his back supremeweasel, a damage stamp is designed to stop DAMAGE and even the faws love to eat, so give him a break and quit the super ethical hunter with a higher calling bullshit.
Very few of us hunt because we need the meat so were all killing to a certain degree, jus let the man enjoy his damage stamps! |
Nice 4 x 4 at uncles ranch in Texas in 2006. Havent shot another nice buck since. I plan on doing a lot of hunting this next year to make up for lost time. Dear was right to left about 100 yards out. I hit him with a .300 Wby Magnum. Yes I know overkill but that gun sure is fun to shoot. Makes the insides JELLO. Through and through, entrance wound was the size of a silver dollar and exit was like a basketball.

I posted this in this years forum but I figured it fit here. My AP-4 qualifies as an AR, granted it is on steroids. This is the best deer rifle I have ever had, it a little heavy but well worth the effort to get it in the woods. The .308 is by far my favorite round for a only gun option.

| The rule is at least 2 inches protruding OR you have to take it on an antlerless deer day OR you have to use an antlerless deer tag. If taken on a hunt club or WMA you MUST use the PROPER antlerless deer tag for that location. Private property you must use an orange antlerless deer tag issued to the hunter who takes the shot. Limit is usually 1 or 2 per day but on special hunts can be as high as 5. |

SC has one of the longest deer seasons in the country. We try to encourage the harvest of does on our property. It was unfortunate, but button heads and spikes are often indistinguishable at that range and at dusk.
On private property (in game zone 6) there are no restrictions as to mag capacity to my knowledge. |

No pics .. but my Remington 600 in .308 barked about 430 PM Saturday and dropped another deer. 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips ... handloads .. the doe never knew what hit her ... DRT.
I had all kinds of deer all over the top of me Saturday .. but couldn't get a clear shot on any of them (including a NICE buck less than 30 yards away). |
